Wart Remover

GENERIC NAME: SALICYLIC ACID (SAL-i-SIL-ik AS-id)

COMMON USES: This medicine is a topical salicylate used to treat corns, calluses, and warts.

HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE: Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TO USE THIS MEDICINE, first soak affected area in warm water. Remove any loose skin with a brush, wash cloth, or emery board. Dry thoroughly. Apply medicine to affected area using the applicator attached to the cap of the bottle. If your doctor directs, cover area with a small adhesive bandage. Unless hands are being treated, be sure to wash hands after each application. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.

CAUTIONS: DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE LONGER OR MORE OFTEN than recommended on the package label. Be sure to apply this medicine only to the affected area and not to normal healthy skin. Do not use any other medicines or drying products on your skin unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes, on the inside of your nose and mouth, or on genitals. If contact with your eyes occurs, flush with water for 15 minutes. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE on open skin wounds, moles, birthmarks, genital warts, or warts growing hair. IF YOU HAVE diabetes or poor blood circulation, do not use this medicine without first checking with your doctor. FOR WOMEN: IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while using this medicine.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include red, scaling, or peeling skin. If they continue or become severe or bothersome, check with your doctor. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE: INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include agitation, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, loss of appetite, loss of hearing, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), seizures, sluggishness, rapid or difficult breathing, diarrhea, mental disturbances, and yellowing of the eyes or skin. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: If your symptoms do not improve or if they become worse, check with your doctor. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets. IF YOU WILL BE USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out.
