GENERIC NAME: PODOPHYLLUM (pode-oh-FIL-um)
COMMON USES: This medicine is a cytotoxic agent used topically to treat genital warts. It may also be used topically to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE: Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. THIS MEDICINE IS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. This medicine is usually applied at your doctor's office, hospital, or a clinic. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. Do not freeze.
CAUTIONS: Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes or on the inside of your nose and mouth. If you get this medicine in your eye, flush immediately with large amounts of warm water. If you get the medicine on your hands, wash them immediately. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are pregnant. IF YOU SUSPECT THAT YOU COULD BE PREGNANT contact your doctor immediately. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE if you are breast feeding.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include burning, pain, redness, swelling, itching, or tingling or numbness in your hands or feet. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE: INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, clumsiness, confusion, weakness, irritability, nervousness, and hallucinations.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: IF NO IMPROVEMENT is seen after 4 weekly applications, or if condition worsens, contact your doctor. DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
