Calamine Lotion

GENERIC NAME: CALAMINE (CAL-ah-mine)

COMMON USES: This medicine is used to help relieve itching, pain and discomfort due to poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.

HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE: Use this medicine exactly as directed on the package, unless instructed differently by your doctor. TO USE THIS MEDICINE: FIRST, WASH YOUR HANDS. Then wash and dry the affected area, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. SHAKE WELL and apply enough medicine to completely cover the affected area. This medicine is applied generally three to four times a day or as directed by your doctor. WASH YOUR HANDS immediately after using this medicine, unless your hands are part of the treated area. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST, before applying a bandage to the affected area. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. DO NOT FREEZE. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE and you are using it regularly, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use two doses at once.

CAUTIONS: IF YOUR SYMPTOMS DO NOT IMPROVE or if they become worse, check with your doctor. THIS MEDICINE IS FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes, on the inside of your nose and mouth, or the genital area.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience rash or irritation. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. BEFORE USING THIS MEDICINE: INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are using any other skin products. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and pets.
